A thoughtful Lago Vista kitchen renovation that made better use of the existing space while giving the kitchen a clean, updated look.
Keeping the original cabinetry and overall layout allowed us to concentrate the kitchen renovation on the areas that would make the biggest difference in how the space looked and functioned. We removed the raised bar top at the sink peninsula and lowered it to create one continuous countertop height, giving the kitchen a larger and more functional work surface. New Calcutta Gold engineered stone countertops and backsplash, an undermount sink with a Delta faucet, updated lighting, a new cooktop and garbage disposal, and new cabinet hardware completed the kitchen updates.
The original sink peninsula had a traditional raised bar top that separated the kitchen from the adjoining space. We removed the raised section and rebuilt the peninsula at one continuous countertop height, creating a larger and more usable surface. We installed Calcutta Gold engineered stone countertops and backsplash, continuing the same material up the walls and vein-matching it to the countertops for a more consistent finished look.
The existing backsplash outlets were located unusually low near countertop height, so we relocated them to the center of the new backsplash. Four new pendant lights were installed over the peninsula, and the existing recessed can lights were updated with retrofit LED lighting. We also installed a new undermount kitchen sink with a Delta faucet, along with a new cooktop and garbage disposal.
Rather than replacing the existing kitchen cabinetry, we updated all of the cabinet handles as part of the renovation. Adjustable cabinet handles allowed us to use the existing mounting holes without modifying the cabinet doors and drawers. This type of hardware can be a good option when updating an older kitchen or bathroom where matching the original handle spacing can be difficult.
Along with the kitchen renovation, we completed several updates in the master and guest bathrooms. The existing Delta shower and tub systems were retrofitted with new fixtures, while the bathroom vanity faucets were completely replaced. We also updated the vanity lighting, cabinet handles, towel bars, towel rings, and toilet paper holders, along with two retrofit LED recessed lights in the master bathroom. These were targeted fixture and finish updates rather than complete bathroom remodels.
